Nikki is a respected teacher, bringing bellydance to life for male and fermale students at her weekly classes in Carterton and Fairford. Classes restart in the Autumn, with Nikki teaching all those listed below. Bellydance Classes
Nikki is a graduate of the Josephine Wise Academy of Arabic Dance (JWAAD), She teaches regular classes to belly dancers across the UK, specialising in Tabla techniques, Sword, and Saiidi. Nikki is happy to teach any size groups from 1 to 40. Nikki will have you shimmying muscles which you didn't know existed!! Nikki travels to Cairo regularly, where she is able to take lessons from renowned Egyptian dancers such as Dandesh, Aida Noor, and Raquia Hassan. |

Nikki supplies typed handouts at all of her workshops, to minimise time spent on you taking notes.
Dancing to drums |
In this workshop led by experts, Nikki Livermore and John Sleiman, you will be introduced to five basic rhythms and 2 lesser-known rhythms. You will be guided through moves and styles appropriate to each rhythm, and when each rhythm is generally used in a dance. You will learn experience dancing to accented rhythm and many forms of decoration of the various rhythms. Intermediate and advanced dancers will have the opportunity to perform, in consultation with the drummer, short live solos if desired. We will however, build up to this during the workshop. |

A choreography to drumming either from a cd or to live drumming, to perform at your evening hafla. |
Saiidi stick |
Learn the authentic earthy steps of this dance from upper Egypt The workshop can be technique or choreography. Improver upwards |
Floorwork |
A technique workshop showing you how to get down with style and grace, involving Turkish rolls, spins, backbends, splits etc. Please bring kneepads and a towel (you can make your own with 2 pieces of tubigrip, and some sheepskin), and not for those students with dodgy knees. Open level |
Taqs, Hits and Pops |
A technique workshop showing you how you can have fun isolating your body, to create some amazing "wow" factor moves. Not for complete beginners. |

Samba Orientale |
Brazilian Samba has been described as "pure primal lust and rage". It is generally associated today with beautiful sultry sweaty women wearing large feather headdresses. In this elegant duet dance you will learn to co-ordinate the intriguing Samba footwork with the fast and crazy hipwork. Intermediate and Advanced dancers will also focus on speed of moves, stage presentation, performance technique and Pizzazz! |
Veil and Advanced Veil |
Learn some sassy new veil techniques to spice up your entrances and choreographies. Open level |
Nubian |
This is a high energy workshop incorporating the atypical posture, relaxed arm movements,, footwork,. and complex floor patterns of this stylised type of dance. The origins, culture, costuming and history of this dance which originates from the Egyptian/Sudanese border will also be discussed as we dance. Bring a stick if you have one!! If not, don't worry I have 20 spares. |
Shamadan |
Learn a traditional wedding dance balancing a shamadan on the head. Bring a shamadan or a training shoe!! |
Baladi |
Learn to recognise traditional baladi music, know its roots and the moves to accompany it. . |
Egyptian Sha'abi |
Sha'abi is an Egyptian Arabic word for a style of living, a style of dance and a style of music. It refers to the poorer commoner sections of the city, and is generally rougher and more playful than other Egyptian styles. The dance being very popular with the young, it is more assertively provocative/sexual, and the music more salacious to the point of comedy often. It can also be political. In this workshop you will work on sha'abi technique, character projection, and adopting a playful persona. I will work on you as Individuals, and as a group in this workshop. |
Shake, shiver, shimmy and shoushou! |
Learn at least 21 shimmies, and when to use them. with layers, and fancy footwork, Egyptian, Afro-Carribbean, Brazilian. Bring a water bottle, as you will sweat! |

Pharaonic Fertility |
A folkloric style workshop, inspired by Ancient Egypt, the fertility Gods, and the Flooding of the Nile The (Akhet). Some of the steps are fantasy in that it can be assumed that they were used in Anciernt Egypt as they were used in other middle Eastern countries at the same period of time. Some role-play can be used in this workshop if wanted, especially good for children and KS2 and KS3 |
